Whether it is a Battle of Britain Memorial Fight flypast, Morris dancing, children's crafts, local bands and singers, historical re-enactment or something more unusual...there is always something to entertain the whole family at the Moira Canal Festival! Mr Alexander’s Travelling Show will take you back to the days of Music Hall, the old ways will be recreated with a demonstration of horse drawn boating – courtesy of Shreck the boat horse. Emma’s Crafty kids will entertain, as will Mr Juggler conjuring and balloon modelling. There is a planned Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, music with an assortment of bands and singers over the weekend. Morris dancing will liven things up, there will be crafty fun and entertainment for the children, live steam, train rides, a variety of stalls and demonstrations, boats, bar and refreshments This will all revolve around the banks of the Ashby Canal at Moira Furnace at the Heart of the National Forest. And meet Mother Duck and her ducklings and enter a duck in the annual Duck Race along the Ashby Canal!
A life long travelling showman with his own stage, will entertain with his magic, unicycling, illusion and live musical acompaniment!
Our Morris Dancers are predominantly found in the courtyard; though they sometimes feature in the Main Arena. You don't need to look hard to find them, just listen for the jingling!
From trampolines to arts and crafts, we have plenty to keep your children entertained. You can also find Mr Juggler, who is sure to amaze both kids and adults alike!
Knights in Battle Medieval Society, with their living history camp, demos, and fight sequences. And kids -watch out, they are recruiting for their army!
